The Oracle SQL Developer tool can connect to databases other than Oracle, including MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and DB2. The SQL development environment helps the programmer perform basic functions on supported non-Oracle databases. Developers can browse and execute basic SELECT queries on supported databases. However, write access is not supported for DB2. Before setting up the connection, download and install the IBM DB2 drivers.
Download and Install IBM DB2 Drivers
The DB2 query builder contains 4 tabs, a tab for each of the following types of SQL statement: Select, Insert, Update, and Delete. The select tab of the DB2 query builder allows users to easily select data from tables. DotConnect for DB2 is an enhanced ORM enabled data provider built on ADO.NET technology, that allows developers to easily integrate DB2 data with widely used.
1.Download the 'IBM DB2' drivers from the IBM download site. Click the “DB2 x.x Client and Driver Packages” link on the IBM download page to locate the correct drivers. The “x.x” indicates the current version of the drivers. At the time of this writing, the version number was 10.5 and the link text was “DB2 10.5 Client and Driver Packages.” The driver download link displays.
Data Studio web console is a web-based tool for health and availability monitoring of DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows databases. The monitor provides status information such as whether databases are up and running and whether applications are blocked from accessing the databases. XCode developer tools must be installed. These can be installed from the Mac App Store. IBM Big Data University. Instead of installing DB2 for Mac natively, I recommend running DB2 using the DB2 Express-C Docker image. Mac OS X Mountain Lion or newer XCode developer tools must be installed. These can be installed from the. EMS SQL Manager for DB2 is a high performance tool for DB2 database administration and development. SQL Manager supports all DB2 objects and data types. 2.Click the “IBM Data Server Driver Package (DS Driver)” option to download the driver package. The IBM Registration and Login form displays.
3.Create an IBM user ID or log in with existing credentials. You do not need to own an IBM product to register. Complete the form with your email address, password and personal data, then log onto the IBM site with the newly created username and password. The Download Selection page displays.
4.Click the radio button next to the entry for the operating system and processor type installed on your development computer, then click “Continue.” A page including the License Agreement and a survey about the use of the driver download opens.
5.Answer the survey questions, if you want. Answers are not required to download the driver.
6.Click the “View License” link to review the terms of the software.
7.Click the check box next to the “I Agree” option, then click “I Confirm.” The final download page displays, and the check box is checked for selected driver.
8.Click the “Download Now” link to download the drivers. Click the “Save” option to save the EXE file to your hard drive.
9.Click the “EXE” file, then click the “Install” option to install the IBM drivers to the computer.
Connect to DB2
1.Open the SQL Developer programming environment on the development computer.
2.Click the “File” option on the top navigation menu to open the File menu.
3.Click the “Open Connection” option in the File menu. The Connection dialog window opens.
4.Click the tab labeled “DB2.” The DB2 Connection form opens.
5.Type a name for the new connection into the “Connection Name” box.
6.Type the username and password for the DB2 database. Check the “Save Password” check box, if you want to store it.
7.Db2 Management Tools
Type the IP address for the DB2 database into the “Hostname” input box. Type the port number, if required, into the “Port” box.
8.Type the name of the DB2 database into the “Enter Database” field.
9.Click the “Info” button to test the connect and view driver information. If the IBM DB2 drivers are not loaded, browse to and select one of the IBM DB2 drivers. Choices are “IBM DB2 Application” and “IBM DB2 Network.” Click “OK” to test the connection. If the connection is not successful, verify and edit Connection settings and retry the connection.
10.Click the “Save” button to save the connection in SQL Developer after the connection is established.

- URL, port and name of DB2 database
- Username and password for the DB2 database

- Note that SQL Developer only provides read access to the DB2 database. Write privileges are not supported.
